Engine Room Team Management (ERTM)

Course Overview:
This course is designed to meet the requirements of STCW Regulation I/12, Sections A-III/1&2, and A & B-VIII/2, and is based on the guidelines outlined in IMO Model Course 2.07.

Course Scope:
The course uses the Engine Room Simulator to enhance the team management skills of watchkeepers. It aims to:
  • • Develop effective teamwork for optimal utilization of engine room machinery and human resources
  • • Provide theoretical and practical training in the principles of human factors as applicable within the machinery spaces
  • • Support a change in attitude and managerial skills, enabling the engine room team to respond efficiently to changing circumstances and contingencies
